A Quick Hello! =)

It is official, the first week with my new second graders was a success! I have to say, I am really feeling this year's group of kids! I can feel it... a good year is in the making =) I have to admit it was much needed after last years group! It sure was a rough group of kiddos. So I wanted to just do a quick check in with all of you. I have been pretty busy and have been pulling some late nights this first week. I will say though, it has all been worth it.

This past week I have been making bookmarks with my students. I have put together a quick little mini unit that you can pick up at my TpT store that I love to do as a follow up activity to Chrysanthemum which is written by Kevin Henkes. I always read Chrysanthemum during the first week because it gets the students thinking about how they should treat others. It is such a great beginning of the year activity. You can even do it as a Fun Friday celebration! It's all around fun and creative. I also love how it teaches others their name is special and tells about who they are. So if you want to grab yourself a copy of this little activity you can click on the image below!

I also have posted the Daily 5 Spanish version! Yes, it is up and finished! I have to give a huge shout out to Christina Lopez for asking the question that started this whole idea! She is the brain behind all the Spanish translations! If you haven't picked up your copy and are in need of Daily 5 materials but in Spanish you can click on that image as well.

In other news, I am excited to say I have started working on the CAFE materials! Thank you so much for your interest in my materials and for being patient! I know how hard it is to wait, so thank you so much for understanding that I am getting to know my new group of kids as well as trying to get my year started! I promise that every second I have, that I can get a little work done, I am working on the CAFE unit. Just to let everyone know there will be a big freebie like I did in the Daily 5 as well as a unit for sale. As I develop it more I will post what I create. It will be in the same theme that matches the Daily 5 so that all your materials work together. So don't worry the color scheme will be the same! =)

Here is a sneak peak at the cover!

I am almost done with my Writing You'll Treasure Unit! I am so excited about this unit.....it has some of my favorite beginning of the year writing activities in it. I have also made two, yes not one, but TWO publishing craftivities! This unit should be posted by the end of the week and I will do a detailed post to inform you all about the lessons.

Did I mention that I have a hurricane day today! Yep sure did. I love when we have free days (no work) and the weather doesn't even get bad. I think that the tropical storm we had during the summer (I had to go to work) was worse! I am so happy that the hurricane decided to bypass Florida! Thank you Lord. I hope it dies down before it hits some land.

I hope everyone else had a great Monday and I am off to have a great second week of school.
